It’s Amazing What a Difference Windows Make…

When I founded THE INSTITUTE on Religion and Public Policy in 1999, we ran it from my apartment in Alexandria. Six months later, Marshall Coyne – the Washington developer and owner of the Madison Hotel – kindly donated office space to us at 1101 15th Street.

While that was an incredible address, the office was located behind the jewelry store and cleaners, and hence, had no windows.

In 2006, we moved to another Coyne building, 1620 I Street. Another amazing address. And still no windows.

In the fall of 2009, THE INSTITUTE to moved its headquarters to Old Town Alexandria, VA, and just consulting opened its offices in the same building. On the second floor. With windows.

The natural light, fresh air and sounds of life outside make for a revolutionary experience. It really does amaze me how much more productive, happy and positive I am in this new office. Surroundings do make an incredible impact on your ability to function and your overall attitude.

It’s amazing what a difference windows make.
